Seventies, ’80s, and ’90s cover bands are also performing nightly, as is a folk guitarist in the British pub and a sing-along pianist at Schooner Bar. Room service is available 24 hours a day with an $8 charge for everything except the continental breakfast, which is complimentary. Loft suites are split over two levels, which allows for some extra privacy that you may not get in other staterooms, or even in some other suites. AquaTheater suites are located near the ship’s AquaTheater, and, depending on the particular suite you book, you may have more room, both inside and out. Grand and junior suites are the smallest options, but still are a step up from what you might get with a standard stateroom.

Comedy Club on Deck 4 also comes alive after dark, offering two shows almost nightly for adults only. In the mornings, Boardwalk Donuts (along the Boardwalk on Deck 6) is stocked with several varieties, including glazed, strawberry and chocolate frosted and cinnamon sugar. They're free but don't wait because it's only open for a couple hours each day. In the morning, expect a selection of pastries and doughnuts, fruit, bagels with a variety of cream cheeses, parfaits, breakfast burritos and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Later in the day, you'll find sandwiches and wraps, salads, fruit and other light items.

If you've dined there in the past, you might notice that some fan favorites — including the delicious pizza, giant meatballs, pulled pork and pancetta — have disappeared from the menu. They are casualties of Royal Caribbean's mission to come as close to zero waste as possible, which has seen the line tightening its menus. For dessert or a snack, head to Sprinkles — soft-serve ice cream machines located on the pool deck. The closet offered a high bar for hanging clothes, including long items like dresses and gowns. Cube shelves offered additional storage space for things like undergarments, pajamas and swimsuits, as well as a code-operated safe for valuables.

While it has not influenced this review, About.com believes in full disclosure of all potential conflicts of interest. Royal Caribbean uses Fisher-Price toys in Adventure Ocean, and each age group has different types of toys and special play sessions. The kids get a daily schedule just like the adults do, with all the planned activities listed. One interesting feature of the spa is the "man cave", which provides treatments for the urban man including collagen, deep cleansing, and even shaving lessons! Men want to escape from the stressful daily lives just like the women in their lives.
RCI-Royal Caribbean announces President's Cruise (ship Oasis OTS) in summer 2024
Allure essentially contains two five-story buildings overlooking areas named Central Park and Boardwalk. These cabins can be great options for families with kids, who might prefer to see the excitement on board, rather than the peaceful ocean. Allure of the Seas shares roughly 95 percent of its DNA with other Oasis-class ships -- including a novel neighborhood concept that divides the ship into seven distinct spaces.
Although this particular show doesn't include slacklining, tightrope walking or aerial acrobatics like the ones on some of the other Oasis Class ships, the feats performed will still make your breath catch in your throat. It's free to attend, but reservations are a must; make them early. (An automatic gratuity will be added.) The line's drink packages don't cover these drinks, but even the basic package will cover similar specialty coffees (made with Starbucks coffee) at nearby Cafe Promenade (see above). In the end, I had to call guest services, and they added the booking manually. It was an issue more than once during the voyage — so much so that I resorted to calling guest services first rather than fussing with the app. I have mixed feelings about cruise mobile apps in general, often finding them glitchy at best and nonfunctional at worst.

The Allure of the Seas Deck Plan Features Distinct Neighborhoods
Many involve an additional fee, but luckily, plenty of quality free dining options are available as well. That said, a cruise on Allure of the Seas is still worth considering. There’s much to love about this ship, from the classic Royal Caribbean entertainment and venues, to the relatively still-modern staterooms and suites. The Allure cruise ship offers its guests the DreamWorks Experience.
With 18 bars and 22 places to grab food and snacks, Allure of the Seas has an astounding number of venues to eat and drink. Options include specialty wine and Champagne bars, pool bars, bars with nautical and Latin themes, and even a bar that levitates. The bathroom had a glass-enclosed shower that was painfully small but functional, with decent storage space. Royal Caribbean offered its own brand of bar soap for handwashing and hair and body wash in a wall-mounted dispenser in the shower.
Unlike most cruise ships, Allure also offers a nursery for children 6 to 36 months that charges $6 per hour before 6pm and $8 per hour at night. Due to the ship’s size, for better or worse, passengers can often forget they’re even on a cruise ship. The ship’s so large it’s been separated into seven distinct neighborhoods. Children will enjoy going for a ride on the full-size carousel on the Coney Island-style Boardwalk, while adults might enjoy reading a book or relaxing in the Central Park neighborhood on deck 8. Filled with real flowers, plants and trees, it’s a place to get in touch with nature, just like a park on land. More plants are found in the adults-only solarium, another peaceful respite from the non-stop excitement on the rest of the ship.
Traditionally, I've found Royal Caribbean's main dining room food unremarkable. It's edible, but it has never stood out to me in any way — until Allure of the Seas. If you're on a strict vacation budget or don't want to pay extra for dining, you can have a decent free meal in the main dining room. The space is divided into three sections — American Icon Grill, The Grande Restaurant and Silk — spread across decks 3, 4 and 5. They're all set up around a central atrium that radiates elegance. Adventure Ocean, Royal Caribbean's stellar kids club, has a vast space on Allure of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean automatically adds a daily gratuity of $16 per person per day to all non-suite staterooms and $18.50 per person per day to suite guests. 18 % tip is automatically added to all beverage and spa/salon purchases. Families with younger kids will enjoy the free full-size carousel on the Boardwalk and the splash pad area on Deck 14. There are more fun activities the whole family can participate in at the Adventure Ocean kids zone, including drawing classes and entertaining science demonstrations.
While lunch and dinner at the diner come with an added $13 fee, breakfast from 8-10 am is free. There are plenty of other specialty dining options available for added fees, including an ice cream and sweets shop, located right next door to a stand offering a nice selection of complimentary donuts. Passengers on a budget should familiarize themselves early on with which dining options are included and which will cost extra. Allure of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships, the largest cruise ships in the world. All Oasis-class ships feature a revolutionary design where the ship is essentially split down the middle.
Several carved horse figures next to the carousel show the evolution of the final product from a large block of wood to painted show horse. Bayside Marketplace, across from the port, is a popular waterfront shopping spot for visitors. Lincoln Road Mall spans 10 blocks of shops— and Miracle Mile is a long string of specialty stores. Cruise to Miami and head to Calle Ocho for hand-stitched guayabera shirts and hand-rolled Cuban cigars. Make it a night out at the theatre and jive to all your favourite ABBA hits in Mamma Mia!
They can technically fit a traveling family, but you might want to upgrade if you want any privacy or if you anticipate spending more than just nights in your stateroom. In February 2014, the ship was in need of some repairs and, during that Bahamas dry dock, the cruise line installed new carpeting and upgraded some of the guest facilities. It’s been more than a decade since Allure of the Seas launched, and nearly a decade since Harmony of the Seas sailed for the first time. Royal Caribbean has, of course, many newer, bigger and more advanced ships in its fleet today.
If you're looking to go down under, dive into adventure at Chankanaab National Park, where you'll find everything from snorkeling to scuba diving to swimming with dolphins. Then, set out on a hike through Punta Sur National Park, where you'll trek through sea fan gardens and observe crocodiles in their natural habitat. Royal Caribbean recently lifted some COVID restrictions, making it easier to sail. Unvaccinated travelers can now sail on almost all cruises from the U.S., except for itineraries visiting Canada or Bermuda. Vaccinated guests will no longer have to take a pre-cruise test on cruises shorter than 10 nights.
